About Management

OSBM is responsible for coordinating statewide performance initiatives by focusing on services and results, promoting improved performance in agency management, and facilitating executive oversight of agency performance and management. These efforts ensure that agencies are adequately preparing for the future, decision makers are provided with detailed information in order to assess agency management, and citizens are informed about state government work and subsequent results. The overarching goal is to improve state government performance and management.

Performance Management

Performance management is a process of continuous improvement that integrates planning, data, and evaluation to drive decision-making in state government.

Strategic Planning

OSBM assists agencies in evaluating their operations, identifying goals, and developing and executing a plan to effectively meet these goals.

Data Management/Reporting

OSBM collects, analyzes, establishes standards, and disseminates data to support on-going agency strategic planning and to meet the data needs of the government, business, academic, and public communities of North Carolina.

Management Studies

Management studies extract larger meaning from state information to support evaluation, decision-making, and improvement in government.

Internal Audits

OSBM serves as staff and support to the Council of Internal Auditing in its implementation of the NC Internal Audit Act (Article 79, Chapter 143 of the NC General Statutes). The 2007 session of the General Assembly created this act, the passage of which was recommended by a study directed by the Government Performance Audit Committee.
